Is There A "Good" Fuel Sending Unit?
OK, my fuel sending unit is no bueno, and I need to replace it.
I found this one on 1aauto.com
http://www.1aauto.com/fuel-sending-u...=761605&y=1989
I've found several others, at varying prices.
Is there a difference? Is one better than the others?
I don't want to have to do this job again any time soon, if I can help it.
Thanks

Good question, I am in need for another unit I had mine replaced in 07. Dead pump right now so I took it out and it's rusted bad gas from sitting. I would only assume we get what we pay for, I am genuinely a GM parts replacement kinda guy but I do not like that $200+ tag price. I would like to know people's thoughts as well.

Sending units are just ohm output, generally when they stop working it's due to corrosion on contacts, or old wires, testing with a multimeter and cleaning contact points real good can fix a bad sending unit.

I don't know anything about these, but I've been watching them, because they are stainless.

OK, so I'm getting ready to do this, and need to make a decision.
Can anyone post up sending units they've had good, or bad experiences with?

OK, here are a few I found:
This is the Spectra FG20A on Amazon for 96.73.
http://www.amazon.com/Spectra-Premiu...DateDescending
Autozone has the same unit for twice the price.
http://www.autozone.com/fuel-deliver...e-5-0l-tbi-ohv
Same with Hawk's ... 189.00
http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/fu...-reproduction/
Rock Auto has the Spectra for 118.79.
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...nid=461&jpid=1
They also have an OE AC/Delco unit for 266.79
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...nid=461&jpid=1
They also have the Platinum pro FSU010087 for 110.79 (no pic)
And the Dorman 692137 for 128.79
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...nid=461&jpid=2
All NAPA carries is the Spectra unit
http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...20A_0265292241
O'Reilly's has the Spectra for 186.99, and the AC Delco, but you have to call for the price.
http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/se...9&make=Pontiac
There are a lot of them on ebay, but most are the Spectra, then some dormans, and a few of the AC/Delcos for over 300 bucks.
From what I can see, the Spectra is the most widely available, and no one comes close to that Amazon.com price.
Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences to share on this? Have to make a decision pretty quickly.

I bought the FG20 from Amazon, I'm waiting on my replacement tank which comes in today. Part looks decent I tried to attach pictures but I couldn't figure it out on my phone..
