Running out of gas
I hear it is bad to let a fuel injected car run out of gas because air gets sucked into the injectors and screws them up, is this true? If so does the same apply to a TBI car?

i dont think its bad for the injectors. at least i hope it isnt...because whenever i do work on the throttle body, i cut the fuel supply to the injectors and run the car until it "runs out of gas". that way i dont have gas spilling all over the place when i unhook the fuel lines.

The gas also works as a coolant to keep the pump from dying on you. I have known many people that run out of gas and end up have to replace the fuel pump. You will stall the engine long before hurting an injector, it would take a decent amout of time to "burn" an injector out from lack of fuel. Bottom line: don't run out of gas

trust me on this one you dont wanna screw your fuel pump up on a FI camaro...i had to replace the fuel pump on my TBI and it wasnt fun...took me a good 7 hours to get the tank out and then maybe 30minutes to get it all back together
