EPROM problem
EPROM problem
I have a 92 tbi that only runs with out the eprom. I've bought a performance one and it didn't work as well. If it's plug in to keep it running you have to keep pumping the gas. Besides that she runs like a champ

Re: EPROM problem
Have you shorted pins A&B to check for codes? That is the first thing you need to do. See if the ECM can tell you what it doesn't like. Second step might be to get a ALDL cable and datalog. Good luck!
Re: EPROM problem
No codes and I had the EPROM check it was corrupt had it reprogrammed and a new ecm ran fine for 15 min turn it off and tried to start it again an it wouldn't. Checked the eprom again and it was corrupt again. Any ideas?
Re: EPROM problem
When you say no codes, did you at least get a code 12??? You should always get a code 12. How are you checking the EPROM? What brand of EPROM is it? Atmel, Intel, SST? I suspect you have an EEPROM. Most people don't use EPROMs anymore. Also, if it is an EPROM with the little window on the top, you need to keep a sticker over it. They are erased by UV exposure.

Re: EPROM problem
You reprogramed the original eprom? Get a new one and program it for your car/engine. Reprogramming an eprom that was corrupt is not a good idea. The only way an eprom can become corrupt is internal damage or exposure to UV light (unlikely). GL!
