Negative Backpressure EGR Valve Question

I've got a 92 Firebird with the 305 TBI (VIN E) engine that needs a new EGR valve. I have the official GM service manual which mentions that both positive and negative backpressure valves were installed on these engines, and "when replacing an EGR valve, always check for correct part number." I'm under the impression that if the car was originally equiped with a negative pressure valve, it should only be replaced with a negative pressure valve. I bought the car when it was only 5 years old from the original owner, so I'm confident the valve on the car (whose part number stamped on the top of the valve ends in "N", signifying a negative pressure valve) is the original from the factory.

Does anyone know the correct part number for a new replacement ACDelco negative pressure valve for this engine? My local dealer and the people at Autozone have no idea what I'm talking about when asking if the part numbers they are giving me are positive or negative pressure valves. The part numbers they are giving me do not end in either a "P" (for positive) or "N" (for negative).

The dealer said that the computer states that ACDelco part # 19210666 is the correct valve for the car. I've done some research and found that this part number appears to be a positive pressure valve. I've also found some other ACDelco part numbers for the car, but I haven't been able to identify if those part numbers are positive or negative pressure.

Is my understanding correct that if the car was originally equipped with a negative pressure valve, it should be replaced with a negative pressure valve? Does anyone know what the correct ACDelco part number is for the negative pressure valve for this car?

Re: Negative Backpressure EGR Valve Question

WHAT is the part number stamped into the existing valve?

What does that number cross to at NAPA, Advance, O'Reileys, etc?

Re: Negative Backpressure EGR Valve Question

The GM part number stamped on the original part was 17088125. There was also a "21N" stamped on the original part, where the N designates Negative backpressure. After much unsuccessful effort using online parts lookup tools to verify what the current part number(s) are that cross reference to the original part number, I ordered AC Delco part number 214-5575. The part showed up with the GM part number 17088125 stamped on it (matching the original GM part number). The new part looks identical to the original, and there have been no problems after installing it.
