1989 camaro rs 305 TBI shuts off upon acceleration and has terrible lag.

as the title suggests, I've been struggling with my project since June. the engine has been fully rebuilt and there is no check engine light. while I was waiting on my engine to arrive back to the machine shop I took it upon myself to rebuild the TBI. now I admit that all I did was install it, connect it and did not due the relearn procedure for the TBI, I want to make sure that those problems are from the result of not doing the relearn procedure. what happens is that after warming up the car from a cold start, ill let it warm up till the idle drops no more, ill take off and the car shuts off upon me giving it gas. it does not matter if I only give it a little or floor it, the car shuts off and coincidentally only happens when I'm entering or exiting a driveway. on level ground, there is a terrible lag, I will press the accelerator pedal all the way down and it will take about 3 to 4 seconds for the car to respond and actually accelerated from the weak acceleration. the vehicle also takes 5 seconds of cranking to start which I find weird for a warm southern California day cold start situation. anyone know what this could be and if it is related to the relearn procedure.

ps
I am also wondering if anyone knows can lead me to directions on how to due the relearn procedure.
thank you, everyone.

There is no relearn procedure for a TBI setup. Make sure that the TPS is working correctly.

RBob.

I would start with a fuel pressure test, sounds like a weak pump. Then I would check the injectors (they can get gummped up etc)

Fuel pressure test, cranking compression test, and CONNECT A SCAN TOOL so you can look at the data stream.

Apologies for reviving this thread but I have found out why this problem is persisting. It turns out that when we dropped the distributor in. We lined it up to where it would fire up after we set the engine to TDC on cylinder one. We forgot to set the correct timing in the distributor which in retrospect was making the car stumble on a retarded timing. Thank you all for the ideas and I hope this helps anyone out.
