TBI on a dual plane manifold?

New question: I am being told I should run a dual plane intake manifold under my Throttle Body Injectors.

I am told that such a intake will improve my engines torque at lower RPMS like 1500 to 2500.

So what has any of your guys found out: Is this a good or bad idea??

Thanks.

Rich

The stock TBI intake is a dual plane.

Re: TBI on a dual plane manifold?

About torque in that very low RPM, I have no idea exactly.

What most people with some TBI experience will tell you is that there are only 2 TBI direct replacement manifolds. One is a Holley manifold, designed to work with their TBI system. The other is an Edelbrock that may offer a small increase in performance. And that is the sum total of TBI intakes for small block Chevys.

But waht you can do is run an adapter plate on a manifold for a carb. Now, a while world of intakes for the SBC is open to you. Some dual plane, some single. Some cross ram, some tunnel ram! But the best all around street manifold for mild applications is goign to be a dual plane. And if you are willing to do the work to swap to one, you have better flowing choices than the one TBI replacement manifold.

My guess is that's what they are recommending you try.

There are several Marine TBI manifolds for both 87-95 heads and Vortec heads as well. They all seem to have 2" bores.

Several marine setups had some well designed TBI-Carb adapters on square bore dual planes.
