1990 L98 TPI Vette to 1991 K5 TBI....

Hey guys,

Question...

Anyone have a .bin file for a 90's L98 TPI with aluminum heads I can compare to my 1991' K5 Blazer?

I'm having some hesitation issues after swapping my TBI on to a TPI Vette roller motor. It may be just as simple as too much EGR flow or a bad timing map. My BLM's at idle are fat, like around 115/117. My light accel and cruise BLM's are lean, 140's. Timing "looks" to be good but base timing on the TBI is 0* and the roller is like 6*. No other mods other than a dual plane GM Performance intake with a 2.00" TBI adapter. I will try and get a clean log and post it later.

Thanks!

If you are still running on the stock chip, probably need more like 10° BTDC.

For a '90 - '91 Vette L98 BIN look for ANHT and AXCN. Both are out there.

Your biggest tune issue is the lack of spark advance. Each of those engines require vastly different SA values.

Re: 1990 L98 TPI Vette to 1991 K5 TBI....

So I was able to get two logs... One is a cold start and drive to the store. I tried hitting it once and it really ran like crap. The second log is after coming out and the truck was semi-warm. Ran ok but still flat on transition. Any brainiacs care to take a look and see if you can see anything really stands out?

Thanks...

Lack of fuel under load is not helping either.

I ran a ZZ4 with a 454 TBI on it at one point. When I first started to tune it, ran pretty well with 454 injectors at stock pressure and timing at 10° BTDC.

I bet the aluminum head L98 is probably consuming 280-300 hp worth of fuel with the stock cam vs 220-230 of the stock L05.
