TBI Distributor

TBI Distributor
My timing is not stable with the wire unhooked. It's not moving more than a degree or so but it bounces. The LO3 has about 90k on it so I'm wanting to do a timing set and new distributor.
I see a lot of issues with the MSD and Accel. I was wondering what the consensus was on a good replacement distributor.

Re: TBI Distributor
If your timing is stable within one degree, I think you're in decent shape as-is. At least inspect that distributor before scrapping it.
IF (big IF) the housing including the bushings and the gear at the bottom is in good condition, it could be that there's nothing wrong with what you have--or what is wrong is fixable with some fresh parts.
I needed a mainshaft in mine; it's common for the magnet near the pickup coil to crack. Amazon has mainshafts for about $140.
It might be that you've got a partially-failed module.
If you insist on replacement, a new or "used-but-usable" Genuine GM "Delco" distributor would be the way to go. The Chinese knockoffs even from the "big" brand names generally have poor modules and questionable overall quality.
