I have a 1992 firebird 305 tbi. the unit is seized. I can get a 1992 silverado trottle body for $75, but I am unsure if there are any differences other than the injector size.
Re: is a 1992 silverado tbi unit a direct bolt on?
ASSUMING we're talking about a V-6 or small-block TBI, you'd contend with the throttle lever, TPS, and potentially different/missing vacuum ports in addition to injector rating.
Big-block TBI is going to be very different.
The TPS difference can be solved with an adapter harness that converts old to new, or new to old (two part numbers, order the correct one.)
If you're missing vacuum port(s) on the replacement, you could likely drill the casting to match the original, and add vacuum nipples made from double-wall seamless steel tubing available at every parts store in America. If you clamp the tubing in a double-flare device, and just squeeze it a little, you'll end up with a nice bead on the end to retain the hose. Use threadlocker to seal the tube to the hole in the casting.
Be aware that there's multiple changes to the castings and not all the changes make any real difference.
Example: Use the base gasket that matches the casting.
