Porting stock heads?
Everyone talks about how crappy these heads are, but has anyone played around with them at all? Ive been reading some articles/books on how to do basic head porting, and I figure if Im gonna learn, my heads would be great since they aint worth anything.
If you open up the intake/exhaust, clean up the chambers, and port the area where the air bends to go into the valves, along with some new springs and a valve job, you think the heads could make decent power when matched to the LT1 cam?

Well it would certainly be better than not porting them.
There is a tech article on how to do it to 305 heads. I would post the link, but everytime I click on it, I get a 404 error?
Maybe it'll work later.
