Cam/etc. plan - please critique.

I'm scheming for my cam (and probably intake - Perf. TBI, if I can find one @ decent price) install over spring break in a couple months:

-LT1 cam (already bought off eBay)
-replacement pushrods
-valve springs (K-Motion K-700 - .500" lift, 1.265" diam., 125#)
-valve stem seals (can't decide between typical, umbrella, and the newer type w/Viton that a friend recommended, need to learn more)
-timing set (is there any need to replace more than just chain?)

Please comment, if you have any opinion/experience with this - am I wasting my money on a certain part? Forgetting something I should do?

Thx, JoelG

btw, I have an xtra set of rocker arms from the guy who sold me the cam, if anyone wants 'em...

I saw it in your sig - you don't have that thing on your engine yet?? I thought that thirdgen mechanical expertise was inversely proportional to the # of posts on this site, so it should only take you a few minutes to install the 7547!

Anywho, why did you go with that intake over say Perf. RPM, Holley, et al., if you don't mind my asking?

From what I've read and heard I think a dual pane carb intake will have bad fuel distribution. The holley TBI intake was/is known for fitment problems and I didn't want to deal with it. I liked the Edelbrock TBI intake but I wasn't going to pay $200 for it and I didn't find any used. My intake was $100. The inside of the 7547 is as wide as the TBI. You just have to grind the top squarebore ridge at the top for each bore. I liked that.

Hmmm, sounds like it's worth looking into.

What about the springs I mentioned above - anyone have a good/bad opinion of them? Anyone know where to get Viton seals (or if they're avail at all for SBCs)? Opinion on changing just chain or gears too?

Thx

I'm running those springs with no prob yet.

I'd put the better seals on the valves . Are they going on the stock heads?

Yep, stock heads. I think I'll end up dropping a new engine in someday b/f I'd be able change out my heads; it's a little pricey for me now.
