For those who have performed part 2 of the ultimate TBI mods using the spacer

I have a question regarding the spacer described in the tech article. For those of you who have made this spacer how thick of a spacer did you use, did you go with the 1/4" as described in the article or a different thickness? Also just to verify that going with the spacer will require the use of 2 gaskets correct?

Wasp, I think you are referring to the under throttle body spacer. I believe the question refers to the spacer under the injector pod. No gaskets are necessary. The plastic will seal adequately. It is only an air seal, not fuel. Watch for interference between the hex on the fuel fitting and the flange where the air box sits.

Yes I was refering to the spacer under the injector pods. Is 1/4" good or has anyone gone with a different size. Will going with a pod spacer and TBI-intake spacer cause any complications besides maybe clearance problems, mainly what I'm interested in is performance.

More than 1/4" moves the injector pod high enough that you will have major interference in the back with the fuel line fittings. Also, more than 1/4" will have marginal effect. 1/4", as is, has only a small effect. You don't want to move the injectors so high that they no longer have a good shot at the throttle bore.

The only complication I have ever seen is with the throttle body spacer getting so big, it creates a problem with the throttle cable, TV cable and cruise cables. I have a 1" spacer without problems. Make sure to adjust TV cable no matter what size.

I was just looking my TBI over and I don't see how putting a spacer under the injector pod can interfer with the hex fittings for the fuel lines. Mines on a 91' is there a difference between older and newer TBI? Does anyone have a picture of where the spacer is suppose to go? Maybe this will help me to understand better.
