I have a question about EPROM BINs.
A while back I bought one of the GM crate motors for my small motorhome (20ft cabover the van front end type). I put in the 330 HP Deluxe air cleaner to oil pan, water pump to flywheel motors. Runs strong but living in frozen Minnesota and driving across country in and out of high altitude sometimes it could run better.
Soooo. I am converting it to throttle body injection. Now I am close to all done, runs good in the driveway anyway but I had to try out the EPROM burning tools. I had two 7747 computers. Broke a couple pins off the first EPROM (stupid huh?) then managed to accidently errase the other EPROM. (and you thought breaking the pins made me look stupid).
There are many 747 BINs out there and I found one to match what I screwed up and got it reprogramed ok but while doing this I tried out som other BINs that looked like they might be a better match to my vehicle but when installed they ran ok but the SES lamp was lit all the time and my lap top would not pick up the ALDL data.
Will the 747 only work with its original BIN ? All the ones I tried were from 747s
