hey guys i decided to keep my 305 cause its an all around great engine. my question is if i am goin more toward the performance direction is tpi better then tbi or is there not much of a diff? i have heard of 305 tpi cars runnin 14.9 et's with just gears and a k&n. well thanks for your input.

Well, if you're looking for performance-there are a few things to consider. First, the 305 is a great motor, however, so is the 350, and it is much easier to make power on a 350.
As far TPI/TBI goes....the main difference in the 305 engines are actually the heads and cam....so it's kinda hard to compare the type of injection on two totally different motors.
From what I understand, the TBI will give a flatter torque curve, while TPI will peak higher. TBI is MUCH cheaper and easier to work with though. If I had it to do over again, however, I would have probably went TPI......Just look at the numbers and ETs. Keep in mind also if you do decide to go TPI, you'll need a new fuel pump, rails, ecm with prom, air intake assembly and so on. You'll also lose your cruise if you have it, unless you get the stuff for that as well. I personally am staying with TBI for the cost reason.
