Has anyone installed a FP gauge without using rubber hoses?

Everyone seems to just cut the stock fuel lines and add rubber ones when putting in a FP gauge. Why?
The fuel lines unscrew very easy right above the power steering on the passenger side. Isn't there a metal T shaped device with the right thread sizes to put in here?
Does anyone have a part # or thread size?

There is a T made just for GM cars but I don't know the part number. When I bought my fuel pressure gauge the model I bought was for Gm FI cars and included the T adapter. I bought it at Auto Zone if that helps...
