Hey guy, either someone sprinkled glitter on your valvetrain when you weren't looking, or there is some serious ****e going on in there.

Engine flush?
Why is that thermostat blue?
Yeah, that L03 is definitely dirty. I don't know about rebuilding it, tho. That can be a last resort.
First, I'd try CHANGING YOUR OIL every once in a while.
Do it after the cam swap, and do it frequently. After buying my car, I noticed a lot of sludge too. Changing the oil at half the interval recommended cleaned it all, without using potentially damaging chemical engine flushes.

Ya thats pretty ugly inside, but I wouldn't rebuild it just cause it was ugly. Put some nice valve covers on when your done and then it will be true what they say. "Beauty is only skin deep."
I like the idea of changing your oil more frequently for awhile.

PS send some of that blue sky up my way!

Easy NT.... I wonder what the inside of YOUR engine will look like when we do the cam swap on yours!

Hey, how did you make out on the Alternator?

Later,
Mike

Man, keep up the excellent work! do you plan on assembling all of this (when done) into a tech article. If you do - I might owe you pretty big time... :hail:

Yeah, hopefully I won't have to eat my words about the dirty engine thing.
As for the alternator, well, that's going pretty badly. The alternator has been tested, and it failed (which is good, it means that the alternator WAS the problem), but the receipt I have for it has the wrong part number on it. The parts guy at the store thought I was trying to return a part with a reciept that I had "borrowed" from another part, to get the warranty. I'll send you an email, while I'm in Canada after I talk to the customer service line.
