can I harwire my winaldl wire in?

my serial wire I made for winaldl. I want to permanently wire it to the back of the car. I was wondering if I needed an on/off switch or if I could always run with it wired up but not plugged into a computer?

Also is there anything I can do so it reads the info faster?

You can splice into the ALDL cables and have the interface connected at all times, no problem.

If you need the 10k resistor between the A and B terminals to get data you should put a switch on that.

You could also add another connector that is spliced into the ALDL cables. A stereo headphone plug will work just fine!

And it is not possible to make it read faster. Your ECM is 160 baud only.
