i had the second one. its advertised at 290 duration.
now, i bought the first one, now i look at both the cards.
MINOR differences, maybe, in cam timing, tell me, what do you think the differences will be in these two cams. power range etc. wise.

I don't think you would notice much of a differance at all. Looks like the same cam except that they are measuring the cam duration at different lifts, one at .001 and the other at .004, other than that they look identical.

Check the duration at .050, its 214/214 on both of them. Maybe a tad longer, but the first one seems very nice for a 305 with 1.5 rockers.

i noticed that the rpm ranges are different. couldnt you make both of these cams react exactly the same by changing cam timing?

I am not putting them in my 305, they are for a 355.

Is this going in your first gen? What kind of power are you looking to make and what rpm range do you want to run in?

Looks like you may be a little short on duration to turn 6grand and still be making power. Should be a torquer though IMO.

I used to run the old 350HP 350 cam in a 355 and it would make power to 6000. It had 222*@.050 and .460 lift. Also the 350HP 350 had 11 to 1 compression and 2.02 heads to achieve that power with that cam. I think that 216* is going to fall short of your expectations. It would be a good street cam though. What are you going to run for heads and compression ratio?

ok engine is

355
flat top pistons with 4 valve reliefs
stock 350 crank
vortec heads - unmodified
manifold is yet to be decided on.
650 carter 4bbl carb
later to be tbi but not now.

engine will be in a 69 camaro with a built turbo 350 and a 3500 stall. unsure of the rearend right now. partial fiberglass front end will be on the car in a couple weeks too.

I would like to run a bigger cam, but i kept telling my friend, who has done most of the building for his college project that i wanted to drive it everyday when it was done.

If i can find a big block for a good price, the 305 WILL come out and this engine will go in the 92. but probably not gona happen anytime soon.

With that kind of stall you should be able to run 230* dur. Your idle would be fairly rough. I ran 222* in a chevelle with stock gears and torque converter. Had to go with a vac secondary carb, but it didn't bog once I got the pump shot right.

Snuf,

Wanna sell the car?

both those cams suck. Crane measured one at .001" lift and the other at .004" lift for advertised durations. They did it for rule cam reasons, i think. Neither of them will do that car justice.

IMO, get a Comp XE268 with 110 lobe sep if carb. IF EFI, get the XE256 with 112 lobe sep. If roller, get a ZZ4 roller cam. If blower, email me.
