Engine Knock?

Today I was driving across town, and at a stoplight, the motor heated way up, and the SES light came on.
I could not get the engine to rev above 2000, try as I might, and it ran like a dog.
I stopped in a nearby parking lot, let the fan cool everything down, yet the SES light stayed on, and I couldn't get any power out of the car whatsoever.
I will double check my codes, but I believe I am throwing a 21 and 43.
I will post again with the errors.
Funny thing, I let the car sit, and started it up again with no trouble. Ran fine. Could my knock sensor be going out? Maybe it is missing? Fouled spark plugs? Or maybe it is vacuum?
I'm really depressed. Has anyone encountered this?

Double checked codes:

Codes 21 and 43:
Those are the only ones that come up.
Code 21: is TPS... might be a short. Checked the TPS and it seems to be fine. Might be the wiring... which could induce:
Code 43:Electronic Spark Control. Short in circuit...

That's what I think it is....
Something isn't right.

No code 42.

I'm just guessing, but it might be the wiring to my TPS is shorted out somewhere....

Other things to consider:
Knock Sensor bad?
TPS bad?
Both?

Fixed I believe.

Okay. Triple checked my TPS connector. The SES light is off and is supposedly throwing no error codes. Discovered a short in my TPS wire. I am hoping that is it.
I am relieved.
Before I was in a big panic.
I'm going to double check all my vacuum lines tomorrow, it's too dark now.
I'm just relieved. TPS is a bugger.
Well, it's about as normal as I can get it till tomorrow anyway.

see, your smart enough to fix it without our help.

I thew the code 43 (i think) a few times till i gave it a good tune up and "broke" the TPS. I had to rewire it but i never saw how that coul dhave fixed it. Maybe im lucky and it fixed itself .. but i dont wana jinx me.

Pretty much

I'm knocking on wood myself! Yeah it was a short. I had to work today so I didn't get much done, but tomorrow morning, I will have some time.
Going to replace my 160 with a 180 T-Stat tomorrow. I'm going to see if that makes a little difference with the idle. It should. That TPS is still driving me crazy, but at least it's functioning now. I may just break down and buy a new one.
I did get a new PCV valve, I figured it wouldn't hurt to replace it.
Something really bothering me about the idle and the TPS.
It's idling high still... around 900+ when it should be around 600.
Must be the wiring. (sigh)
I hope I figure it out tomorrow morning.
I hope it's not the ECM.
