Retro-fitting heads

Hi,
I'm in the market for a cheap pair of heads for my 305. I want something under 150, that I can polish up, and use my new k-motion valve springs on.
There's a pair on eBay for a 305 with 1.94 valves, and it's currently bidding within my price range. The seller didn't leave a casting number, but I'm guessing that they're probably pre-86 just because there seems to be so many older heads for sale. Versus 87 and up.
Can I fit these heads to my '89 block? I plan on using an intake for pre 87 heads, so this will work well, if the heads can be bolted to my block.
I'm going to email the seller, asking for the casting #, but theres a picture of them on the auction.

This auction ends soon, and I'd like to know quick.
Thanks for your help.

There's no problem fitting pre 86 heads on a post 87 block..it's just the intake thats the problem. If you plan on using a pre 86 intake, those heads will bolt up no prob.

P.S. Those look like early eighties lightweight castings. They resemble L82 heads; maybe they're Vette heads from a Cali vette.

Yes they will bolt to your block. I believe that some of the older 305 heads had larger chambers then ours. you might want to find out what the chamber size is for sure.

Good question. I think the number of exhaust bolts does vary, but I don't know which heads have how many. Maybe somebody here can explain.

BTW the seller got back to me with the casting number finally (like 4 hours before the auction ended), and according to Mortec, the 376450 heads fit 75-81 262/265/305. With either 6 or 7 exhaust bolt holes. Woohoo! Those heads are perfect for hi-po! I didn't even know they made 262/265 during those times. They probably have the worlds smallest/crappiest ports.
Needless to say, I didn't bid on them.
