Jprevost, what are you using?

What all equipment / software are you using to burn proms. Also where did you get it. I know I could ask this question at the diy prom board but I wanted to ask some one who is moding a tbi. I get the feeling that alot of the info at diy prom is tpi specific. I allready read trax's article but I am wondering if there is newer equipment / software since the article was wrote. I have heard that there are new chips that dont require a eraser.
I have WinALDL and a laptop so I want to get started. Just want to get started in the right direction for TBI.
Thanks, Dave

I'm using the pocket programmer and as of right now there is no eeprom, only eproms. The problem is that the 2732 eprom is an old style and only 4kb...it's just a POS in anything other than our cars . I have the normal data eraser without the timer. I just use my old timex watch with alarm, set it, walk around with it on my hand, 10 minutes and I've got 4 blank eproms ready to go.
I also use TunerCat to do the altercations. I've got a hack of the ecm and with the trial version of TunerCat's definition file editor I've added lots of new stuff.
The one big thing to remember with TBI (8746 and 7747 ecms) is that the EGR enable/disable temp is inverse. If you want to disable EGR all together it's recommended that you turn the EGR enable/disable temp so high that it never happens. In TunerCat that value is actually -40.3 degrees C because it's inverse. Don't ask me why, it just is.
So the requirements: Pocket Programmer II, data eraser, TunerCat with the $61 tdf file, and spare eproms. All new the total cost comes to $250, add about $15 for spare 2732 eproms sold on e-bay (they are always for sale).
TunerCat requires Windows 9x so I would have laptop/computer limits being set at a pentium 75, 486 66mhz at the MIN.
I got my laptop for $50 but that's a steal of a deal, just have to do some serious searching on the web (hint: google) and just ask around, you never know what friends/family have sitting in the basement .
With Winaldl programming is SO SO easy. I hope to find the time to do a complete walk through the process of tuning TBI but as of right now I'm busy with school and my programmer is broke .
