LT1 Cam swap, hesitant about using Used cam

Alight, i am looking to do a cam swap and I am hearing alot of people saying just to get a used LT1 cam, but quite honestly I am not to comfortable going through all the effort to intall a used cam that I might end up having problems with.

Can you guys suggest any new cams that would be good for a 89 305 TBI with minor bolt on mods, headers/exhaust, ultimate tbi, pullies, wires plugs etc. I also want something that wont send the computer into a fit of rage or anything like that.

Also, do you guys think it will make all that much of a difference in the amount of pop that the car has???

Thanks

buy a new LT1 cam if you dont want to install a used one, .447 and .459 (with 1.5 rockers) is a pretty good cam for a 305

For the money you'd spend on a new LT1 cam, you might as well get something even a bit better. Used LT1 cams are fine since they're roller cams, and I don't know what someone would have to do to seriously mess up one that came in a car that was properly broken in when it was new. If they did, then they sure as heck didn't deserve to drive a brand new LT1, did they? That's why it's considered such a good "cheap" mod.
