compression test

does anyone know how many pounds of compressioneach cylinder supost to have in our LO3 engines i took mine today and got 180 pounds on the one cylinder i tryed... is this good?? thanks all....

no-one on this board knows how many pounds each cylinder stock has??? come on now i know that somone here must know

Thats plenty,as long as it doesnt vary any more than 10% from the highest to the lowest reading.Your on the high side for a fairly stock motor.Is the cam stock?That will effect compression.Somewhere between 150-180 should be normal.Have you checked them all?

hes right. as long as they are all within 10% of each other they are fine. if u get readings like 160 for all of them and then 120 theres a problem. i believe anywhere around 120 should be good.
