2 Piece Timing Chain cover question within
Anyone out there sell a two piece timing chain cover for our engines. I got the L98 350 engine. I think the timing covers are pretty much all the same for the small block chevy. Although i think their not very cheap they would be a much easier installation than the one piece plus you can swap cams later on with ease.

I have seen a couple different flavors in Summit for SBCs. They have some that just have a piece that seals with the oil pan and the cover comes off without cracking the pan. Another style (I've seen these in steel and aluminum) has the cover split into two pieces and the upper one can be removed to allow cam swapping without taking the balancer or oil pan off at all. I thought about one of these when I built the engine in my GTA, but I heard that they are prone to leaks and it was more money I didn't have at the time.... The idea is pretty slick though. Oh, and any SBC timing cover will work on an L98.... might have to get a bolt on timing tab though.
