Engine Still Missing a Cylinder

Folks, I need help. I've got a partial miss that's proving to be a bear to hunt down. I have replaced the plugs, wires, distributor, rotor yet it persists. Pulling a plug wire results in the expected change in idle for every cylinder.

I have to take a 600 mile trip in two weeks and really need to have all eight cylinders fully functional.

No codes.

I was afraid someone would suggest a compression check. What a major pain in the rear. I have stock exhaust manifolds and spent the better part of 2 hours changing the plugs...

Fuel pressure's good. It is a miss across the RPM band without variation.

I'd also say do a compression test first... Sounds like it could be a bad valve somewhere.

I was hoping one of those... solutions. I guess that was too much to hope for.

I hope it doesn't get any worse. I must drive to Mississippi weekend after next and will not have time to fix anything so involved as a valve problem.

Thanks folks.
