Does anyone know what might be wrong, the last 2 times I got caught in traffic and the car got really hot, I've noticed that the engine seems like its choking out and threatens to stall (but never does so far). Also I can smell gas when this happens. Otherwise the car seems to run fine when at normal temps.
I can detect no obvious gas leaks, maybe a bad O2 sensor is making the car run really rich at high temps and its dumping out the exaust while "choking" the engine? Why only when its hot?
Hummm...any suggestions would be appreaiciated!

 

Maybe you're running lean or a plugged cat?

 

Mark - thanks, but if the CAT were plugged up it would run like cr*p all the time, this seems to only occur when the car gets really heated up. Besides the CAT is fairly new, may 18 mos old.

 

Yeah, that's what I figured, but I thought maybe once the car heated up and the cat it might have enhanced an unknown problem otherwise.
