Nope. I've got a GTA and it's a 5spd. It came with black rims and no vents near the front wheel. (Not a trans am).

 

Yeah there were a few 5-speed 305 TPI GTAs. There were no automatic 305 GTAs and no TBI/Carb GTAs.

 

Yea, there were. Dont know why someone would do that, but they are out there.

 

More in the 91-92 model year, but due to "official policy" of not 5.7s with T-roofs (though I am sure there were a few of those too); if you wanted an auto AND T-roof in 91-92 you were pretty well forced to take the 305.

I know that when I got my GTA in late spring 1991, I could get the 5.7 (no T-roof), a 305 5-speed (w/ T-roof) or 305 auto (w/ T-roof) all for the same price in the area I lived. At that time, the 5.7 GTA was the most difficult to find. Virtually all were 305 5 speeds at that time.

A major recession had just "kicked in" in early 1991 and cars were just not moving (and no new ones coming in).

 

I have a 1991 gta 305 tpi ws6 t/roof white body,gray int,black dash. It has 138,000 miles and I still love this car:rockon:

 

Yup, my friend owns a convertable '88 GTA 305/5 speed combo...although that's not the combo now.
