Start up question...tune up needed?? Also, how long will my 305 last?
I just tried starting my car this morning with my remote starter and something strange happened. It was cranking, and sounded like it was starting to catch, but on each engine rotation only one cylinder was firing. It did this about 5-6 cycles and then started up. It was like this- you know when you start your engine the sound it makes is clearly going in "cycles"? Well, on each cycle there was only one little burble from the exhaust, which sounded characteristic of only one cylinder firing. Like I said, after about 5 or 6 of these cycles, it started. Never in the past have I had any starting trouble, and I dont think i will have any. I'm just curious as to what might cause that. Do I need a tune up?
Also, my car currently has upwards of 153k miles on the original 305 TPI...how much longer will the engine last before giving me any trouble? It still pulls like new and has nothing wrong with it currently aside from bad valve guide seals (typical problem). Anybody have any high mileage testimonials for me? I have seen 305s go up to 200k without trouble.

1992 305 TBI stock, still can punch it, melt da tire, and rip off the line(about as fast as a 305 TBI can go)...
haha
186,000...
my brothers firebird went 267,000 before he sold it, and the guy he sold it to, has 395,000 ORIGINAL miles on it, just change the oil, and keep regular maintenance, it will go forever...
