Cooling Question

Have 85 Z28 with fresh 350 carb. 700R4 tranny and 3.73 gears in back. Originaly my Z came with 305 TPI. Was going to keep Tpi but the wiring problem was getting expensive. Anyways, I'm going to need to replace water pump. Also lines and coolant. I wanted to know if the stock radiator would cool the 350. I have only one fan on the radiator shroud. If I need to replace it fine. What size can I fit in the support rails, I want maximum cooling.
I think it Griffin that sells the race radiator. For like $250, or something. Will any of those work with my current setup? I would like to stay around that price range. All aluminum nice looking and excellent cooling. Thats what I need.

Is it a stock 350 or 355? High compression 10.5 or higher? Do you currently have an aluminum radiator or copper I'm assuming aluminum-I have an 86 with aluminum rad., but this is my first 3rd gen so I'm not up on what cars came with what. If it's just a plain ole 350 with some basic mods or even a 355 nothing too radical I see no reason why what you have would'nt work. Just for peice of mind I might look to the bone yard for a 2 fan set-up like out of a 350 IROC or trans-am. If you don't have regular gauges now would be the time to install them. I'm curious to what others might say as I'm planing a 383 swap later this year.

With the 350 it has a mild 270 comp cam. Stock heads for now. Edelbrock Performer intake. 650 cfm Holley. The stock radiator is a copper base. I have the stock instrument panel in my Z. Basic stuff if I was to buy a new radiator what size would I need? With the two fan setup how would I make the second fan come on? The first one is controled by the temp switch. But what would the second fan be controled by. What equipment would I need?

You will probably be fine with the stock radiator with that motor. If you haven't changed the thermostat fromt the stock 195* that will help a lot to change to a 180*, plus change your fan temp switch from the stock 220* to something a lot lower, and most likely you'll be fine.
