according to the haynes manual, if i remember it right, the blue is the green/white wire in the diagram from the manual and it goes to the fuel pump like the tan/white wire in the relay. the black/white goes to the engine ground, orange wire goes to fuse holder, red goes to alcd (or to that code thing under the dashboard). if you got the manual, check the diagram at the end of it.
well i need to know how to re wire this i guess.. since i was a dumb *** and cut the wires before thining.. i just wana make it so my pump comes on when the key is on and off when the key is off.. thanks for the input

The tan/white wire connects to the pump. Connect the black/white wire to a good ground. Connect a 12VDC+ switched supply to the dark green/white wire. Connect the orange wire to a 12VDC power source fused at 20A, and forget about the rest of the wiring.
In case you can't print vader's image, or after a few months it isn't posted online anymore and someone wants to see the diagram... 10-19 in Hayne's manual for pre-89 camaros, 10-20 for 90-92
If you get the time Vader, where do you get all of your diagrams from... I like the layout better. Are you pulling them out of a service manual?

can anyone else respond to this?? i dotn ahve a green wire on the relay or is he talking bout the wire coming out of the plug on the firewall??? also do i just reconnect the tan wire on the relay to the wire coming out of the plug?? and i can just plug the orange wire into the fuse block but put a fuse on it right? just making sure i got this right.. thanks for all the help
i must just not be getting this from the schematic vader put up there there is a wire coming out of every spot on the relay.. now my relay doesnt have anything at all coming out of the b slot.. do i just not worry bout that?? sorry for my ignorance but i suck at wiring and reading diagrams liek that.. again thanks for putting up with me here while i am slowly but surely learning this.. more advice here would be great.. also when vader says green/white wire are u talking bout the one coming out of the fire wall plug or oen that is on the relay?? and do i just connect the tan wire coming out of the plug back to the tan wire on the relay?? liek i said i am trying to learn this.. just dont wana screw up anything trying to wire this and do it wrong is all.
i am sure u are all gritting yoru teeth and saying what an idiot but i am trying!!

I'm going to reiterate what vader said above... the insulation markings (IE the wire colors) really mean nothing... focus on what wires go from what position on the relay to what instrument in the car...
reread it about 8 times and let him know what you think in the morning.

if it isnt the fuel pump relay what is it?? i am 99.9% sure (atleast i am sure of something here lol) that this is the relay because from teh pics i have seen the pump relay is the one in the middle of the 3 relays on the firewall if i am wrong please correct me so i can use the right one and i am going reread the post 8 times lol and then i will respodn again with any questions.. my only question at this time is the diagram that vader shows has wires coming out of every spot.. and mine does not B is blank on mine why is that?? what i am thinking is that my F takes place of the B from what i am understanding

I think that's your fan relay. At least on my car, the oval shaped relay is the fan relay (I'm holding it in my hand right now) and the rectangular one is the fuel pump relay.
2ponchos: You're not running a computer, are you? So you need to wire up the fuel pump to work without one. What Vader was trying to say, was to ignore the wire colors and to go by the letters on the terminals. Look under the relay, next to each pin you can see a letter. On top of the relay should be a diagram of what each pin does (if you don't understand how a relay works someone will be glad to explain). If the diagram has rubbed off, you can use the one Vader posted, but it won't apply to the relay in the picture you posted. That's a different relay.
The oval relay I'm talking about doesn't have a "B" connector.. It had A C D E F. Fan relay.

D= whats that thing in the picture?
E= anything that is 12v?where would that be
C=somehwere in the fuse panel that is 12v when key is on
B= chassis ground
A=I believe the fuel pump? but wuts the other stuff for the oil press. switch?

D is connected to pin G of your ALDL connector. It's not really needed, it's just there for testing/troubleshooting purposes.
E is connected to 12v (e.i. the battery).
A - the fuel pump has a second power source through the oil pressure switch. If the fuel pump relay were to burn out in the middle of a drive, the oil pressure switch will continue to provide power to the fuel pump as long as there's oil pressure.

okthanks. one more question wut is the aldl connector and since i'm not usein a computer do i need it? also to hook it up to the oil presure switch how do i do this ? do i have to get a switch and a relay and run a wire? thanks also wut is all needed for this and where is the furel pump relay?
ok i got the right relay now!!! everything u guys have said makes a hole lot more sense now!! didnt get a chance to hook it up tonight but i will tommorow for sure..89formula if u need a pic of my fuel pump relay let me know.. its not the oval one its the rectangle one..it has two orange wires one is shorter its the test wire a black and white wire green and white wire and the tan and white wire 5 total wires.. once i got the right relay as soon as i saw it i was like man it makes total sense what u guys are saying now!!! what a relief.. also i dont have to hook the oil pressure switch back up do i?? its not liek a total must right? i know i should hav eone but i will put one on later if i need to..
and formula my relay was on the left hand side of the row of relays on the drivers side firewall.. last question of the night with the tan and white wire on the relay can i just connect that to the tan and white wire in the firewall?? instead of going to the oil pressure switch?? thanks guys
