Just dump in as much as you can without killing the engine.

I do this to my 85 Caprice whenever it starts to ping due to carbon buildup. Gets rid of the ping. If you put too much in, it makes a horrible clank sound and the engine dies. That happenned once, but the engine still runs OK, fortunately. Just go easy on the flow. Dribbling from a cup at 2 or 3 K is about right. Spray bottle is good too, but takes longer to get the h20 in. Drip or spray about a cup (8 ounces) thru it. It takes me about 10 minutes to drip a cup thru. Takes about 20 minutes to spray a cup thru.
