what timing for best mileage?

I'm driving my car 220 miles this weekend to bring it to school so i want the best mileage, my timing is now -6 but i'm planning to put it at -10, should i leave it at -6 for the way up? or does timing not affect mileage?

Did you get your valvetrain problem solved?

I would say the 10 deg, would give you better mileage, if the motor is making more power more efficiently. Then you should get slightly better mileage, though probably not very much.

thanks blue. and yeah i fixed the valvetrain:
when i put the new timing set on, i aligned the cam gear dot to the 0 right above the keyway on the crank gear instead of the 0 that's three teeth in the counter clockwise direction. so i fixed that and put the driver's head back on w/clay on the piston, i now get .252" of clearance between valves and piston.
