Knock Sensor on LG4...

Where is the knock sensor located on a 1984 LG4? I dont know where it is, and I just got the 350 in my car. It almost feels like the car is retarding my timing when i get to like 2800 rpm and then advancing it at like 4000. Almost feels like it hesitates at those points. What kind of knock sensor would I put on? The only one for a 350 that year I could find is off of a corvette. Of course knowing my luck there is no knock sensor on an 84 and its all in my head.

Well, you must know your luck well indeed, because your 1984 LG4 doesn't have a knock sensor.

1982-1984 LG4 motors are not equipped with a knock sensor. 1985-1987 LG4 and all L69 motors are.

That answer your question?

FYI, it's all in the PROM. Do you still have the original 1984 LG4 PROM?

I still have the original LG4 PROM. What kind of PROM should I get for it and would it really make much of a difference? I dont want to run high test gas with the bird, my minimum wage job can barely handle 87.

If you've got a minimum wage job, stick with the stock PROM. Every other one I know of that's even remotely useful requires premium, because it advances timing (that's about all the ECM does anyway).
