just heard a funny noise..what is it?
hi, my car is pretty loud, its got headers into a y pipe that runs directly into a 2.5inch glasspack, so the exaust exists pretty much at the end of the tranny, the way mufller is angled.
so I cant really hear the engine to great, but it runs good.
im sitting in a fast food drive through, and I can hear a slight knock or ping or something, almost sounds like someone is banging a couple spoons together, I heard it echoing of the walls of the resteraunt.
The noise is not loud enough or continous(its not a steady - - - - - , its more like a -- - -- ---- -- -)to be a rod knock I dont think, so what the heck is this?
The car runs great, it doesent miss or anything. its a non computerized 350.

Could just be something loose rattling around. If it's not consistent it doesn't sound like it could be exhaust or engine related.

Sounds like something loose in the exhaust.

Automatic tranny? If so, tighten up the three flywheel to torque converter bolts. I had the same noise and I just tightened mine up yesterday and no more noise.
