harmonic balancer question. need responce fast

i have a 350 i just droped in my car. the original balancer went into 2 pieces when i took it of so i can put a new cam in. the original balancer was skinny.the new balancer i got is a 305 1. the fat 1. is there gonna be any problems with the engine with the fat 305 balancer on? 1 buddy of mine said it will screw it up. the other freind told me he just put 1 on and said it will be alrite. but he didnt run his motor yet. so before i put my radiator back in place and bolt the rest up. will this 305 harmonic balancer work good?

Dan

Although a 305 damper will "work" on a 350, go get yourseld a 350 damper.

You also need to make sure the timing mark is made for your cover/timing tab type. Some are at about 1:30 at TDC, some at 12 o'clock.

DONT USE IT

dont use it.......the 305 may have the same stroke as a 350 but they are balanced for completely different reciprocating masses. that and i believe some of the 305's were externally balanced depending on the year.

The flex plate was externally balanced on one-piece rear main seal crank versions. The damper wasn't affected.
