What is that sound?

Ok. I'm stumped right now. I have an 86 z28. From a complete stop if I hit the gas too hard there is a a lound sound and you can feel something shift. It sounds and feels like it's near the floor shift under the car. i have already put on new motor mounts and a new trans mount. The engine is a stock 305 with the 700R 4 Trans. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. The motor is coming out this Saturday

That's really quick then. It was just replaced last week. Say Last Tuesday. I haven't driven the car since last Wednesday night after I replaced the Motor mounts

Welcome aboard!
I would check the torque arm mount on the trans if you have already changed the trans mount..........

Thanks on both accounts. i'll check the torque arm when I get home. This is the first car I decided to really work on myself. Just so I'm not confused where exactly is the torque arm? Thanx again for all your help

It runs from the transmission to the rear end.It keeps the rear end from pivoting up and down. The mount is on the side of the trans.
