We went out and raced the 1/4 on a desserted road..the 1/4 is marked...anyways,we went to race fromk work,my car was extrmely cold..and kept hesiating even in the begingin of the race...we an em and he beat me by maybe a half a lenght it was that close...He runs a 15.8 with no altitude adjustment involved...So is my 305 tpi time normal ior do i have a 350 under the hood for those times...

Check the last six digits stamped on the right front deck extension of the engine case.

If the six numbers are the same as the sequence numbers in yout VIN (the last six digits) it is the original engine.
And don't be too quick to underestimate the 305. The 14 second threshold is not that difficult with a well tuned 305.

The 305 TPI's with an auto ran 15.4 stock according to GM and most magazine tests. Mine is at 15.3 with a throttle body air foil, flowmaster muffler, and K&N filters. I'll post again when I get it put back together. I'm adding and adjustable fuel pressure regualtor and porting the plenum and runners.
Corvette Engine Code...
Vader,
How much do you know about Early GM engine stamping? My dad has a '69 Vette that he hasn't been able to identify as the original motor for the last 20 years. We know it's an original Corvette engine, but he hasn't ever been able to locate the right number to prove it's the original motor.
Any ideas?
James
