well, I have a electric fan, but a clutch fan doesn't run all the time, so I guess, just check it at certain times, also I think the "spindle" is bulkier if it has a clutch, but I could/probably am wrong.

Cluch fans are run off the motor are fans are electric. What a cluch fan does is slows down a higher speeds to take a load off the motor at high rpms. At high rpms there is enough air going into rad to cool motor. When sitting in traffic the fan pulls air into rad when it is need ( no movement) hope this helps

My car had a fan clutch but I removed it and replaced it with a solid fan spacer and added a flex fan. It cools a hell of alot better now, I can actually use my A/C. My dads 79 suburban had a locked up fan clutch which was vibrating the whole engine, so we put my fan clutch on it and now the 454 in it runs smooth. Who would guess that a part off my car would fix another? Hehe...

I took mine off and installed a 16" electric fan, now I can hear the dang engine when tuning it instead of getting blown away.

The factory fan clutch works off temperature. When the temp reaches around 210 the clutch enguages and pulls alot of air. They do wear out overtime and become as less effective, or they can lockup and pull air constantly.
The best way I can tell you to check and see if you have a clutch fan without having a picture to show you is this...
With the engine off and cool, go under your hood and try turning your fan by hand. If the fan can turn while the belts and pulleys stay still, it is a clutch fan. It sort of "freewheels" until the engine is hot. If the fan is solidly mounted to the pulley (cannot turn at all without the belts and pulleys moving), then it is not a clutch fan. As far as describing what a fan clutch looks like, it looks like a 4" or 5" diameter hub or mass at the center of the fan. Looks similar to a round heat sink maybe. Anyways, hope this helps.
I'm guessing that you do have a fan clutch.
