Air Foil??

anyone have this and is it just a hoax or is it a valid part...does it help the engine breathe...i am trying to build up my engine as much as i can without major work...that will come later when i get the money...

It is supposed to smooth out the air flow into the TB slightly, thereby increasing flow capacity. The difference is very small, like 2 or 3 HP at most. If you can get one for less than $30 it might be worth it.

they claim that it adds 10-15hp that is hard to believe...i will spend my 30 dollars on something else..thanks for the info

Have you looked at the front of the TB? It is pretty nasty with those two gaps. If you buy a new TB it will have that air foil built into it, so there must be a good reason for it. It might actually be worth $30.

you do have a point...i spose i could get one it wouldnt hurt...30 bucks for 2 or 3 horse?? thats 10 bucks per horse..not to shabby for ease of installation...

Have you looked at the top of a carburetor lately? It is even more "nasty", with a lot more rough projections and crevices. Not to say that a carb doesn't benefit a little from stacks, but like you said - a LITTLE!

You're right. If you can get one for less than $30.00 and don't have anything else to spend you money on, go for it. If you want a sure gain of horsepower, change your oil to synthetic for the same cost. There is a link floating around somewhere to the SLP site that showed a 10HP gain with synthetic lubricant. The gain figures were measured on their chassis dyno, not taken from an advertisement.

wont the synthetic oil unswell the gaskets?? oil pan valve cover..or is that an old wives tale??
