Looks like your taking your Y pipe off. i know you dont wanna hear it but thats all that is lef tto do. dont fight with it. just drop the pipe it will be easier putting it back in as well.

You didn't mention removing the bracket that holds up the other end of the starter. It's just a tiny (3/8th IIRC) nut. Or you're just talking about getting it out past the headers? I have to undo the bolts that hold the y-pipe to the headers. HAVE to.

The starter hole is TIGHT.........but it will come out without dropping the exhaust.......it took me a few tries but I figured it out.

I have the same exhaust on my car and *** only knows the number of times I have had to remove the starter in the last 2 months alone. I never needed to remove the Y-pipe, you just need to move the starter off towards the side of the car and then let it angle down and slip past the y-pipe verticaly

I had to change out my starter a couple of times this monthand it can be a real PITA! What you need to do is slide the starter towards the front of the car, and then push the back of the starter up to get it vertical so the nose is facing down towards the ground (watch out for the knock sensor) then rotate it a little and it should come out nose first. If that does not work you can take off the solenoid to get more room.
