hell's of mod's wondering what i would run??

i want to get my car in the low 13' s or possibally 12's, here is the settup im thinking of going with

9 bolt housing, with 3.42 gears
aluminum drive shaft
rebuilt 700R-4 with vette servo and shift kit
2500 SC
4-bolt main block bored .030 over (already found in the paper and thinking of buying) + rebuild kit from summit or powerhouse w/ forged pistons
AFR 195 head's w/ roller tiped rockers (accually undecieded what heads i want to use)
cam??? not sure which one to get yet
ported base, runners, plennum, and 52mm TB w/ 24lb/hr Inj's and an AFPR set at 45 psi (or with cam and heads should it be set higher?)
swap my edelbrock headers for SLP 1 3/4 headers, and a random tech. cat back exhaust...on street tires, 245/50/z16's what is the potential in this set up? Thanks -Don

Engine: 5.7 Tuned Port Injection
Transmission: 700R4 Auto
Axle/Gears: BW 9-Bolt 3.27
This would be better on 1 of the Tech Boards.

depending on the cam that motor is gonna make a lot of top end horsepower, i would look into aftermarket fuel injection. even ported tpi wont wanna run in the higher rpms. possibly super ram, mini ram or the new stealth ram injection systems would all work.

The potential of that motor to Run like **** is Very Good.

Without Some PROM work thats going to be a complete dog.

Also, No 3.42's for the 9 bolt. 3.45 is close enough.

The Stock Base is going to be a big restriction for you. Look at some of the aftermarket setups, or try siamesing the thing.

The Jury is still out on weather or not that is going to be enough, So Im not going to tell you it is. But I would definately try it before i dropped 400$ on an aftermarket Base.

Don't waste the Money on the 52mm TB. Do a search on the TPI board for my Name and TB as for why.

Basically, WIth a Healthy Cam ( somewhere in the 230* @.050 Range ) That combo stands to make alot of power, If you can support it with the intake.

ANd you can't Forget to Tune the thing, or it will all be in vain.

you have enough set up to go high 12's there with some major tuning and intake work. i'd recomend using stock runner's and modifying the base. what i've found works best so far (still working on other idea's) is to open and chamfer a port between each pair of runners at the base about 3/4 of an inch in to about 1 1/2 inch long (roughly 3/4 inch long) and about 7/16 or so tall port. the idea here is to use the two runners to suck air for the cylinder with the open intake valve and by the time it's closed the other cylinder can fill with the air already flowing through both again. as for the prom, if your not too familier with e.c.m. functions yet i'd recomend a fast chips prom. nice street tire choice, but i'd recomend a set of drag radials sitting in the garage for the occasion.
