New Radiator on 1992 305 TBI?????
New Radiator on 1992 305 TBI?????
I have about 3 leaks comming out of my current radiator, it looks like swiss cheese with all the leaks it has.

What is a cheap aluminum radiator that i can put in there, I'm looking to spend below $200, i don't want a factory one either.

Does anyone know a great place to buy light, aluminum radiators for a 1992 camaro RS with a 305 TBI?

Thanks

DM91RS, did you have to modify anything about the hoses and moving them around??

Did the radiator come with instructions on how to re-route the hoses, and all that?

Thanks

it is not a "custom" fit rad he is talking about.
it has teh basics in teh same spots though, teh lower hose points in, upper hose is straight, and there is an over flow bung. if you have an auto you will have to get an external tranny cooler though, the griffan does nto have it built in like the stocker does.
as you can see it can easily be hels in place by teh stock shroud and use teh stock fan.
i went with a 19x26 on my car just to try to save a little more weight
or you can go to a salvage yard and just look for a thirdgen that was hit in teh side or rear. GM put the same size rad in all thirdgens adn actually used teh same sized rad with the same hook up locations in most of their passenger cars from teh mid 80's through the late 90's.

Tim is correct about the hose fittings. I had to make rubber mounts for the bottom and rework the top of the fan support. Space the fan back about 1/8" and trim some of the rad support crossmember at the top. Not too bad for a rad twice the thickness. Do you need the added cooling of a larger radiator?
I installed a $110 replacement from Advance in my wife's 84 with no mods and hers is an auto.

Mine slid in fairly well, only problem, was making the stock support cover fit over it. But now I have another one, with a shroud. It's a Griffin by the way.
Mine is also an automatic, so does that mean i need to purchase and install a tranny cooler also? I live in Southern Florida so i need all the cooling i can get. Also how much am is it looking to cost me, if i have to install a tranny cooler?

Once again it's a 1992 camaro RS with a 305 TBI??

Thanks

I think tranny coolers are around $70 or so. go to www.summitracing.com and check them out.
