need help with an air cleaner !!!

ok i want to put a nice open element aircleaner on my 305 TBI my question is what do i do about the vaccum line that goes to the throttle body, the harness that goes to the stock air cleaner(do i need this and what does it do), and the black hose that goes to the back of the air cleaner. I will apreciate any answers and pics thankss

I know the ones you are talking about. But it is ok to just drop a K&N in to thing. It doesn't have any geometry changes over stock. But I got a bigger K&N and turned the lid upside doen. Runs just a slight it hotter but I believe it runs better. Those lines shouldn't worry you. I remover one of them, think it was the one that comes from the TB to the air cleaner.

1) remove the vaccum line hose from the TBI then plug the metal tube on the TBI w/ a vaccum cap.
2) the little harness that you mentioned is your IAT sensor, remove it from you stock air cleaner and just relocate it somewhere by the firewall
3) the black hose that you mentioned is the breather, you can just remove the breather element from the stock air cleaner and put it back on the hose and just leave it as is or you can get an aftermarket breather

if you need more info, go to this tech article on how to install an open element air cleaner

I also wanted to add that if your state's smog laws require a visual, you will not pass w/ the open element air cleaner so you might want to keep your stock air cleaner so you can do a quick swap when it's time for testing.
