Console shifter question

Console shifter question

I need help removing the small button on top of the shifter ****. How do i go about doing this?

1991 Z28 1LE 5.7liter Automatic.

If it's the same as mine, look about 1/2 down on the shifter handle (wrapped part) in the front facind the dash. You should see a small C-Clip that needs to be pulled out. Grab the end with a small pair of dykes and wiggle it forward towards the dash.

Pay attention when reinstalling, you need to press into the selector **** some to get it lined back up.

Just grab the button and pull it straight off. It's sort of a press fit. Then under that is the actual button (the first part was just the cover). You'll notice it has a small square in the middle of it. Push down on the outside edge of the button and it should go down, but the square part in the middle won't. While it's up, turn it 90 degrees and let the button back up, it should all pull up and out.
