opinion's wanted, needing a cam in my car

okay stock lift and duration on my car is suppose to be int. .415 exh. .430 Lift and Duration int. 207 Exh. 213, i figured the S***y car craft motor has a different cam and prolly head's so i wanna put a cam in but just a mild one, so ive been looking in Summit right now and im looking at a comp cam w/ .440 and .440 lift and 212* 212* duration, i would like it to add some hp and tq so should i go a little higher on lift and duration? and does comp make good cams?? Thanks for you opinion's -Don

I believe the cam you speak of is a 260 and is a MILD cam. If you are getting new heads soon I would go with a 268 but if its going to be a while I would get the 260 or 262. Thats my $.02 but I will let others jump in on this one.

If you go with the 268 you might need some head work for them to handle it.

okay i see what you guys are talking about but there are 2 different 260 series with 2 differnt lifts same duration tho, whats going to help me more, more duration or more lift? damn this is confusing, what about a comp extreme cam?? this sounds good....duration Intake-218 Exh-226 Lift Int-.462 Exh-.480 $99.95, i want to get different heads so that im not worried about getting to big of a cam to support my heads but i may only have P/P stock heads or P/P vette heads or cheaper aftermarket heads...........PLEASE HELP! THANKS -Don

99.95? You are not going to find a hydrolic roller that cheap for your setup. Your looking at around 230 bucks for a HYD RLLR cam. I also have a 89 350 TPI and went with the Comp Extreme 218/224 495/503 112 lsa with TF heads and it runs great. Runs perfect on the stock chip too lol.
