Leaks! Where do they come from?! Aaahh!
Leaks! Where do they come from?! Aaahh!
Ya know guys, I hate the rain. Why? Cuz my car likes to mysteriously leak inside itself. I love it when others say TTops leak, cuz mine dont! Yay! Atleast I don't think so.. dun.. dun.. dun.. I never felt a drop hit my head or anywhere. These are the three places I get the leaks.
The first one: On the passenger side floor, under the dash. Sometimes nothing, sometimes a nice big puddle, oh yes dontcha just love that.
The second one: Behind the driver seat on the floor, underneath the mat. Thats right it doesn't drip on the mat, it travels underneath the rug, oh that sneaky water.
The third one: The trunk, that thing get fr!ggin soaked! I have to keep putting towels in there. And when I take em out, soaked! It leaks more to the left side of the trunk, then the right. It even gets wet in that little compartment box on the left side of the trunk. Once again it doesn't just drip right down on it, it glides underneath the carpet, and makes nice puddle for me to clean up, yay!
The third one is most common. The second and first are rare. But trust they'll show up when I least expect it.
Who else has these fr!ggin annoying leaks, how can I check for them to see where they're coming from? I gotta get rid of these leaks... NOW! Any help is appreciated, Thanks!!!

Damn, glad I took this picture a few days ago. This is the third time I'm posting it! The weatherstrip I'm pointing to can shrink back from years of hot sun. I cut mine back with a razor blade, and used black silicone (Permatex, in a tube, at any auto store, $3) to fill the gap. When the silicone dried fully (overnight), I used a razor blade to turn it from a "bubble" into a "straight edge".

First one - the leak is coming from the engine bay, underneath the blower motor there is a hole, patch it, no more leak. I found this one after I took out my blower motor. Years of dirt, leaves, etc... built up there and rotted away the firewall. Left a nice 2in. x 3in. hole. I patched this, and now no more leakage.
Second one - there is a rust spot near the divers side hatch hinge, it will be tough to see, but its there. See what happens is, this water leaks through the little hole onto the plastic roof piece, down the sail panel, into the floor board. Seal it, no more leak.
Third one - either the weather striping, or where Tom said.
I'm not for sure if this exactly right, but I've had the first two happen to me, and I spent numerous hours trying to find and fix.
Good luck.

1st one, air conditioning evaporator case vent is plugged with leaves and Maple tree helicopters and other various fall compost.
2nd has me stumped.
3rd might be what is mentioned. Check hatch weatherstrip... Is it possible there is a hole in your wheelwell somewhere to cause both problems 1&2 from water being slung up from the tires?

the first problem i have no clue, if it is coolant its probably the heater core, if it is water check for holes.
the second problem make sure ur t-tops are adjusted in the rear so that when they are locked in they dont move/ have little play if u gram it and try to move it up and down, so when adjusting make sure that the black lever arm on the first bolt is pussing against the weatherstripping where the window and the edge of the t-top meet, it that lever will not make the weatherstripping sela against the window good try stuffing some tissue paper around that area to push the weather striping out further in the corner to make a better seal when the door closes against the window. after all that i make use some black silicone to seal anywhere where the weatherstripping is starting to come off around the body, espically those dam corners where the water comes in.
the third problem has never happened to me maybe u need to silicone some place where the weatherstripping pealed awa from the trunk area.

One time I left my passenger side window down a bit overnight and it rained inside my car. In the morning when I came out all of my windows were really foggy and there were puddles in my trunk and under my mats. The next night the same puddles formed and it was all soaked again even though the window was up, seems like all of the vapor condensed at night and soaked my car.
At least my carpets are much cleaner now, though.
