Oil light coming on

My oil light comes on when the motor is above 2500rpm's for more than about 5 seconds. Oil level is good, it happens hot or cold, new oil or old. The light doesn't come on when braking accelerating or turning. The oil pressure gauge doesn't drop when the light comes on and the light comes on when the gauge reads the highest. When the rpm's drop to idle the light goes out and the gauge drops.

What's happening?

If the gauge reads good, I would trust it over the dummy light.

If your gauge is reading 0 when the motor is off & Acc on, and moving up during normal acceleration, then you might just have a short in the dummy light.

I would still hook up a cheap 10-dollar gauge from Checker Auto or what not to verify.

If the dummy light turns out to be a dud, you'll need to get some schematics, and start tracing the problem. I couldn't tell what the dummy light runs off.

If your gauge is acting goofing (not sure from your post) It very well could run off the same sender.

Danoko!! I have the exact same problem with my Berlinetta...same model same year same tranny. Did you find a solution? I'm going to look into it tomorrow and any suggestions you could make would be a huge help for me. Thanks!! Feel free to email me if it is more convenient (rbellrose@hotmail.com)
