Just debatiing of fixing the 305 up for now or saving all the possible cash for a new engine. Heh... well that seem to be hard to do since Guitar Center still exist.

i saw a 94 LT1 out of a caprice for $750 w/comp, harness, sensors. when they started up, (in the vehicle) it did smoke a little bit (constantly, rings) so i passed up on it. it would have needed to be rebuilt. not only that caprices have iron heads, so.... nah. though the average price for an F or Y Body LT1 here in SA is around $1500 w/comp & harness etc...

keep in mind that you can by an entire running lt1 equipped fourthgen for a little over $5000.

if you're not going to do your own engine install & electrical work, purchasing a fourthgen may be cheaper after you add up all the costs of putting an lt1 into your thirdgen.

I got my 95 LT1 for $1,000 complete with PCM and harness plus a radiator, dual fans, max, and intake hoses. Only needed an Alternator. Came out of a 9C1 Caprice. I am going to be putting on a set of LT4 heads and intake along with the LT4 Hot Cam that I have. Oh, motor has 48K on it.

I can't wait till it's ready to drop into my car.

$550 from the boneyard, running, engine only. You should be able to get a used, running engine for that almost anywhere.
