car keeps dying...why?
last night car died on red light. pushed start it and then it went alright for a hundred yards away. then it died again. pushed start it again and the same problem happened. the car wouldn't start (no cranking - nothing at all). tried to see whether the battery went dead after the car died but the headlights kept on brightly. fortunately the car was able to get home by push-starting it three times (it happened close to home). recent replacements were fuel pump, fuel pump relay, spark plug wires, distributor cap. suspecting it could be the alternator. if it is the alternator, how to test it when the car won't get started? anymore suggestions so i could do something about it tomorrow. thanks.
