New intake system installed and car won't start.

I replaced the computer controlled Qjet, the distributor, and the intake. I put in an Edelbrock 1400 with an Edelbrock 3701 intake. I replaced the distributor with a non-comp one too. The car will just sit there and crank. It will occasionally sound like it's going to start. Also it will shoot a fireball out if I hold down on the gas while cranking. I've checked the distributor, timing, wires, and plugs.

Is there something about the LG4 that's causing it not to want to start? I don't know if the ECM's freaking out. When I used to start it without the TPS and the MCS hooked up it would just run rich.

Almost forgot. It's a 305 LG4.

I would recheck your distributor and make sure it's not 180* backwards.

If it shoots a fireball out then the ignition is working. It sounds like you have the timing out. Pull the cap off and the #1 spark plug out. Bump the engine over until #1 cylinder is on TDC of the compression stroke. Look to see where the rotor on the distributor is pointing. It should be pointing very close to the #1 plug wire. If it isn't then correct the problem.

Sounds like a 180 out problem to me. Or, perhaps one cylinder off (really retarded or really advanced).

If you'd like someone to take a look at it, email me. I might be able to make it over Wednesday evening or Friday.
